Vraag: Maakt de Vedische astrologie gebruik van declinaties?

Antwoord: Van Roeland de Looff. De Vedische Astrologie maakt over het algemeen geen gebruik van declinaties. Er is echter 1 uitzondering. De Vedische Astrologie maakt gebruik van een veelomvattend systeem om de kracht van planeten uit te drukken in 1 cijfermatige waarde. Dit systeem heeft als naam Shadbala. Het systeem is opgebouwd uit verschillende onderdelen. Een van de elementen waaruit Shadbala is opgebouwd is Ayana Bala.
What's Ayana Bala? This is a somewhat exotic concept in Shadbala. To really explain it would take a lot of space. The value a planet gets according to Ayana Bala has to do with the declination it has from the equator. If a planet has 0 declination the ayana bala is 30. For Venus, the Sun, Mars and Jupiter the Northern declinations are added to his value and the Southern declinations subtracted (the consequence of this is that a planet has a low ayana bala if the planet has a Southern declination and a high ayana bala if the planet has a Northern declination). For Saturn and the Moon it is the other way around. For Mercury declinations are always added. The maximum amount of Shashtiamsas to be gained is 60. The ayana bala of the Sun is always doubled. I have not succeeded in finding an explanation why these rules are the way they are.

Vraag: Als de ascendant en Mc buiten de 23gr26 declinatie komen tel je ze dan ook out of bounds ??

Antwoord: Luc Duprez. De ASC en het MC liggen per definitie altijd op de ecliptica, hun declinatie komt overeen met die van de Zon op hetzelfde punt. Ze gaan dus nooit OOB. Als je ASC bv op 0°Ram staat is je decl 0°; en op 0°Steenbok is de declinatie 23°26-28', en dan gaat ie terug naar beneden. Astronomisch: de Ascendant is het snijpunt in oostelijke richting van de ecliptica met de ware horizon. De cirkel om de aarde die even ver verwijdert is van mij als van mijn tegenvoeter is de ware horizon. Astronomisch: Het MC is het hoogste punt dat de Zon bereikt, daar snijdt de ecliptica de meridiaan die door uw voeten loopt; daartegenover ligt het IC ( Imum Coeli).
